This family reminds me to love well and have fun in the process! Will is the Area Director for Young Life and Janis works behind the scenes to help Baltimore County Young Life run smoothly in addition to caring for their two adorable little boys. Wes and I have had the privilege of being led by Will as we serve as leaders for Young Life’s middle school ministry WyldLife.

I met Will and Janis and their boys at the Hampton National Historic Site in Towson on a beautiful spring evening. We had to reschedule once due to rain and chilly weather so we were thankful for the sun and warmer temperatures. I shot Griffin’s lifestyle newborn session over 2 1/2 years ago so it was time to update their family pictures!

It didn’t take long for the boys to realize that this evening was going to be an adventure. This is one of the things I love about lifestyle photography. I may direct and guide their play but ultimately I let kids be kids. And at a place like the Hampton National Historic Site there is plenty of room to explore. There are rock lined pathways, old stone buildings, lovely gardens, historic trees and plenty of benches to stop and rest.

I think the boys loved the lower garden behind the mansion the best. Running the stone lined pathways was so fun. Running free and rocks…what more could little boys want?! Enjoy this collection of images from our time together.

Kammar Family | Fells Point {Baltimore Family Photographer}

If you’ve been following along for a few years you have seen these boys grow up before your eyes! We have so much fun during our session together. Helen always comes with ideas of what she wants to capture that will tell their family story well and this year was no exception. She showed up to the session with a pink tug of war rope!

She is a fellow small business owner. Her business T & K specializes in women’s clothing and believe me when I say Helen lives her business motto “It’s your life, dress it up!”

2 Year Old Milestone Session | Towson, Maryland {Baltimore Milestone Photographer}

This sweet boy has been a joy to capture over the years.  Owen's mom, Sarah has made it a priority to capture a milestone portrait session each year around his birthday.  We shot his newborn session at their home and then followed up with his 1 year session and cake smash at the beautiful Hampton Mansion Historical Site.  This year we met again at the Hampton Mansion and I have to say it was my favorite session of them all.  I left the session with confirmation that my favorite way to capture children is to allow them to play and interact with the ones they love.  Owen was hesitant and shy when they first arrived but it didn't take long to begin to see his personality shine.  It may have taken some tricks from my "mom of boys arsenal" but it was worth it!

Montgomery Motherhood Session | Towson, Maryland {Baltimore Child Photographer}

Let me be the first to say I loved spending time with this mama and her kids!  We had to reschedule a few times due to ice cold temperatures and snow but it was worth the wait!  I have known Kelly since before these sweet kiddos were in her life.  I was always captivated by her beautiful smile and fun personality.  Her daughter, Charlotte greeted me at the door ready and excited for the session.  She introduced me to her baby brother Teddy and even showed me her big girl room.  Her personality is infectious as you'll see in the pictures.  And Teddy is the sweetest little guy.  I held him for a bit so I could capture some pictures of Kelly and Charlotte and let me just say...babies are the best.  We started the session inside their home and then took a walk around the block at the end of the session.  The weather was cool but the sun was shining and there were signs of spring all around.

Powis Motherhood Session | Lutherville, Maryland {Baltimore Child Photographer}

Do you remember this beautiful mama from her maternity session with me last fall?  Baby Marli arrived a few months ago and she is at the perfect age to capture some of those expressions and interactions that make this stage so fun.  One of my goals in capturing these Motherhood Sessions especially at Marli's age is to help her Mama get a glimpse that all of the effort and exhaustion is worth it!  We met at their home, the perfect place to ensure we get the most natural interactions from everyone.  Capturing the joy and interactions between these two truly made my day.  Be sure to scroll through to the end...Marli's daddy Palmer was home so I had him jump in for some pictures towards the end of the session.
